Losing weight is not easy.  If it were, weight loss would not be a multi-billion dollar business.  Sometimes, when you are working to take off some pounds, you may not seem to be getting the results you want.  If this is the case and you are making constant efforts to take excess pounds off your body, it may be time for you to take some additional steps. The following tips will help keep you on track while you are trying to lose weight.

1.   Keep an exercise and food diary.  If you are following a diet and exercising it may help to keep track of how much you exercise and how much you eat each day. Record all the food you eat, even the snacks you have between meals, the time and number of calories from each snack. Keeping track of the calories you consume will identify any problem areas and will make you more conscious of your calorie intake and motivate you to lose more weight.

2.  Keep a weight chart.  Check your weight at regular intervals like once a week or even twice a week.  Try to take your weight at the same time of the day (either in the morning or evening).  Again, record the date and time you weigh yourself as well as your weight.  This will help show a slow but positive and healthy weight loss.

 3.  Weight loss is all about portion control.  In addition following your diet by eating the right foods, you have to be careful to eat only the correct portion of it.  Drink a glass of water before you eat and add plenty of green vegetables to help fill you up.

Some other tricks that will help shed those excess pounds are to avoid skipping meals, exercise regularly and get plenty of sleep. These tips will help keep you on the right track to losing weight and they are extremely easy to follow.
